Food is one of our basic needs to survive in the world. With the increasing population, the demand for food is also increasing simultaneously. But do you know that the food we consume every day is safe and hygienic? What is the origin of that? How is it prepared? It is recommended to scrutinize the source of food and method of preparation while choosing the best one for the welfare of your family.

safe food

Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian people have to keep an eye on the selection of their food. The best way to keep yourself away from many diseases caused by food is to simply eat fresh and raw food. Try your best to avoid processed food, packed food, frozen food, and beverages that mostly carry harmful toxins, Trans fat some artificial acid, colorant, other preservatives, etc. These ingredients are just to make that food attractive and tasty to make that product saleable in the market. People are tempted to buy these foods due to their taste and ready availability. Parents should keep their children away from these types of processed food as these foods have many drawbacks.

Children’s growth and development can be hampered due to the regular consumption of junk and processed food. Their IQ score may get affected by these artificial ingredients present in it. Some children may face poor vision, lack of concentration in studies, obesity at an early age, unusual growth, loss of memory, and many more diseases. They should be fed fresh and organic food to meet their proper nutritional requirement at their stage of development. They should be given milk and other food rich in multivitamins and calcium.

Apart from children, an adult is also suggested to avoid processed food and switch over to raw food and organic green food. You can see many hormones related to diseases among adults due to toxins and fats present in fast food and junk food items. Besides, many misleading advertisements, one should know that most processed foods have less nutritional value as compared to fresh food. For example, canned orange juice has fewer vitamin C contents than a fresh orange itself.

It is also highly advisable to eat organic food only if possible. As organic foods are cultivated with zero application of harmful chemicals and pesticides on agricultural land.

For this, all people should have to understand the value of their life and the importance of safe food to maintain a healthy and active life.

Natural foods have existed for the longest time possible and man-made foods have come into play with time. They are very different both structurally and in terms of nutritional content even though they may easily look similar.

How does one tell the difference though? The most basic thing is the fact that God-made food occurs naturally. It grows on trees; it is an animal by-product or is the animal itself. There is very little required for it to be consumed and the most work it entails is washing and cooking while some can be eaten raw.

Man-made or processed food, on the other hand, looks very appealing and tastes good too but it all comes from a processing plant. It will mostly come in boxes and packs and you will find information like “added Vitamin A” or “fortified with calcium” on the pack. It goes without saying that whatever is in the processed food is not enough and that is why it needs fortification.

natural foods

People who eat a proper natural diet have over the years lived longer and even in their last years remained healthier than most people younger than them who relied on processed food. The Amazons lived in jungles and had minimal access to meat so they lived on fruit and herbs. Other communities lived entirely on meat and a mixture of blood and milk and they remained strong and healthy.

Those that currently live on farms and eat farm produce actually look healthier and the younger children seem to have better brain capacity. The common thing among these different groups of people, even though they live in different circumstances, is the absence of processed food.

Fortification and adding vitamins and minerals don’t make it any better. The processes through which most of these foods are passed strip the actual real food of a lot of nutrients. The synthetic nutrients added are not spared either and you are left eating empty calories that add no value to your body.

The excess heat and pressure can even damage the existing nutrients and cause them to become toxic compounds. They may taste good and take a very short time to prepare but the price you pay may not be as sweet as you thought. Long-term effects may be damage to nervous tissue, cancer, and eventually death.

God-made food takes the day since there are no chemical additives to worry about. You should have balanced ratios of each food type since excesses of any food type can lead to problems.

The FDA proposes that the food industry has much more information on its food labeling. That this labeling is clearer and easier for customers to understand in order to make informed healthier dietary choices. This change has come about due to the fact that many Americans have become obese. This obesity is leading to a ticking healthcare time bomb, where huge numbers of Americans could become statistics for dietary-related diseases such as heart disease and diabetes.

FDA new labelling

Due to these worrying statistics, the FDA has approved a firm approach and set out plans for what they believe will help turn the tide on obesity and all its health-related issues.
• The format of the substance and nutrition facts box is set for change. The FDA would like calories per serving to be far more prominent.
• Food labels will have a daily value listing for each nutrient on the left side of the nutrition facts box. It will be mandatory to declare potassium, vitamin D, and added sugars but not those of fats and vitamins A and C.
• The FDA is proposing significant changes to the RACCs on food labeling. This will mean that RACCs for foodstuffs such as coffee, tea and frozen desserts, seafood, and sugars, etc… will increase but those for certain candies and cakes will reduce. This means that serving sizes will no doubt change as the RACCs are currently based on serving sizes from the 1970s when our diets were quite different.

The FDA wants to ensure that serving size is based on the size of a serving that people actually eat and not what they should eat. What this means is that because people tend to buy say a can of soda and drink all of it, an entire can will count as one serving rather than two. It also takes into consideration that most of us eat more than the recommended portion size of foods like ice cream and desserts.

The labeling of calories per fat content will disappear, instead, it will be labeled as calories per serving, making it easier for customers to understand how many calories they are consuming from the products they buy.

The consequences of these changes taking effect will be that businesses will need to change their current label formats at great expense.

It is hoped that the new rules will encourage people to understand their calorific intake and plan for a healthier diet and lifestyle.

What is Vitamin D?

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, but vitamin D is not just a vitamin. In the vitamin D category, there are more than 10 kinds of vitamin D, the most important of which are vitamin D3 (cholesterol) and vitamin D2 (ergosterol).

Vitamin D is also known as “sunshine vitamin”. Vitamin D is produced by human skin when exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D is an important element to maintain human calcium balance. Its main function is to regulate bone metabolism, promote calcium absorption, and prevent infantile rickets.

Vitamin D not only affects bone metabolism, but also is related to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, malignant tumors, and depression.

vitamin D

Symptoms of vitamin D deficiency

Vitamin D deficiency has the most obvious impact on infants and young children. Infants and young children will have irritability, poor immunity, crying, night terror, sweating, anorexia, late teeth irregular, hand and foot twitching. Because calcium cannot be effectively absorbed, in the process of growth and development, there will be the square skull, O-leg or X-leg.

People with diabetes should eat more vitamin D

Studies have shown that a long-term moderate dose of vitamin D can effectively stabilize the blood sugar level of diabetic patients and improve insulin sensitivity. Diabetic patients take vitamin D simultaneously while injecting insulin, which can reduce the dosage of insulin and effectively protect the secretory function of islet cells. For healthy people, taking a certain amount of vitamin D can reduce the incidence of diabetes.

vitamin D food

Scientific vitamin D supplementation

1. The source of vitamin D can be divided into plant and animal. Animal vitamin D is superior to plant vitamin D. Sea fish, pig liver, pig heart, fish liver oil, and cheese are rich in vitamin D. Spinach, dried mushrooms, and nuts are also good choices.

3. If you need to take vitamin D supplements, it’s better not to choose active vitamin D, but to take vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and vitamin D2 (ergosterol).

2. Porridge soup contains lipid oxidase, which can destroy fat-soluble vitamins, so when taking vitamin D, try not to drink porridge soup;

4. In addition to paying attention to vitamin D intake in the diet, we can also get more sunshine and let the body synthesize vitamin D. But here’s one more thing to say, no matter whether adults or infants, try to avoid the noon sun, because the sun is strongest at this time, and there is more harmful light.

The Top Five Things That You Can Do for Arthritis

1. Get a Proper Diagnosis

Many causes of joint pain are not related to arthritis. These include fractures, nerve damage (sciatica from back problems), a torn meniscus (knee) bursitis, synovitis, tendonitis, myositis, and even cancer. Always get a proper diagnosis first.

2. Start an Exercise Program

Moderate exercise is an integral part of treating arthritis. Although exercise may sometimes cause discomfort, proper exercise will help nourish the cartilage, strengthen the muscles, and may prolong the life of your joints. Check with your doctor before starting any exercise program to obtain permission, precautions, or guidelines.

Exercise regularly

3. Modify Your Activities

Proper body mechanics can lead to more effective use of your body and less strain on your joints.

Following these activity modification guidelines may prove helpful:
• Avoid slouching and practice good posture by standing up straight.
• Avoid sitting in low chairs to reduce stress on your knees when sitting and rising.
• While traveling, get up and move around every hour or so to avoid stiff joints.
• Avoid impact-loading activities (running, etc.).

4. Nutritional Supplements

Recently, nutritional supplements have become popular with patients with arthritis. Glucosamine and Chondroitin have been the most widely used.

Glucosamine – This natural building block found in cartilage may also be labeled as a hydrochloride or sulfate. Studies have shown Glucosamine to be useful in strengthening, repairing, and revitalizing cartilage, and in reducing pain.

Chondroitin Sulfate – This supplement is commonly taken along with glucosamine. It is found in cartilage and acts as a sponge for the fluid found in cartilage. This makes the cartilage more elastic and spongy. Chondroitin may also help prevent the breakdown of cartilage.

foods supplements

Vitamin C and D – Some studies indicate that patients low in Vitamin D and C may have a higher incidence of arthritis. Although a direct cause and effect are not established, it is recommended that arthritis patients take vitamins regularly.

Vitamin C

Calcium – Some people confuse osteoporosis with osteoarthritis. Osteoporosis is thinning of the bone, not the joint. Calcium is known to help strengthen the bones and may help prevent the onset of osteoporosis.

5. Apply Heat/Cold

Heat and/or cold may be used to decrease pain and increase flexibility. Cold decreases blood flow and helps relieve joint pain and swelling. Heat increases blood flow and helps relax muscles.

apply heat cold

6. Consider Injections

Hyaluronate Injections – sodium hyaluronate injections have been approved for arthritis of the knee. The injections may help relieve osteoarthritis pain and restore joint function. Hyaluronate is a naturally occurring substance in the joint fluid that provides lubrication and cushioning to the joint. Several synthetic forms of hyaluronate have been developed for use in the knee joint. To be effective, you must receive three to five injections weekly. The effectiveness is usually not noticed for a month or so. Studies have shown that the more severe arthritis, the less effective the injections. When effective, however, the relief may last six months.

Probiotics are a kind of active microorganisms beneficial to the host. The beneficial bacteria in the human body and animals mainly include Clostridium butyricum, lactobacillus, bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus acidophilus, actinomycetes, yeasts, and so on. Probiotics are active and beneficial microorganisms that are colonized in the intestine and reproductive system of the human body and can produce definite health effects to improve the microecological balance of the host and play a beneficial role.

At present, the most powerful products in the world are mainly complex probiotics composed of the above microorganisms, which are widely used in the fields of bioengineering, industry and agriculture, food safety, and life and health.

1. Probiotics can alleviate the symptoms of lactose intolerance and promote nutrient absorption: Probiotics can help digest nutrients in the intestine. It can decompose lactose into lactic acid and reduce lactose intolerance. Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus can not only produce vitamins such as vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, niacin, sodium hyaluronate, and folic acid for the body’s needs but also protect the supply of vitamins by inhibiting certain vitamin-decomposing bacteria. In addition, Bifidobacterium can also reduce blood ammonia and improve liver function.

Probiotics

2. Probiotics can rectify the intestine, adjust micro-ecological imbalance, and prevent and cure diarrhea: Probiotics live in the human intestine, promote the normalization of intestinal bacteria through its growth and various metabolic functions, inhibit the production of intestinal putrefaction, and maintain the normal function of the intestine. It has therapeutic and preventive effects on viral and bacterial acute enteritis, dysentery, constipation, etc. Probiotics are closely related to chronic gastritis, digestive tract ulcers, and other gastrointestinal diseases. Some probiotics can resist gastric acid, adhere to the surface of gastric epithelial cells, inhibit the growth of Helicobacter pylori through its metabolic activities, and prevent the occurrence of gastric ulcers.

3. Probiotics can produce bio-antagonistic metabolites and enhance human immunity: Probiotics can produce organic acids, free fatty acids, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocins to inhibit the growth of other harmful bacteria; use “biological oxygen capture” to make aerobic pathogenic bacteria significantly reduced, probiotics can colonize in the mucosa, skin, and other surfaces or cells. The formation of biological barriers between these barriers can prevent the colonization of pathogenic microorganisms, play a space-occupying, compete for nutrition, mutually beneficial symbiosis, or antagonism. It can also stimulate the non-specific immune function of the body, increase the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, enhance the secretion of intestinal immunoglobulin IgA, and improve intestinal barrier function.

4. Effect of probiotics on hypertension: Some substances produced by lactic acid bacteria, such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), have the effect of lowering blood pressure. Other probiotics specifically break down milk proteins to produce polypeptides (such as VPP and LPP) that inhibit the activity of enzymes that cause blood pressure to rise. Regular consumption of yogurt containing this active polypeptide has the effect of preventing hypertension.

probiotics effect

5. Probiotics play a role in preventing vaginal infections: Many probiotics have the effect of acidifying the genitourinary tract. It can inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria by lowering the pH value. It can also curb them by competing with harmful bacteria for space and resources.

6. Probiotics can alleviate allergy: Allergy is an immune disease, which is the imbalance of immune function in the body. People with allergies develop allergic symptoms when exogenous substances or organisms stimulate the immune system to produce too much immunoglobulin (IgE), which releases a substance called histamine. Probiotics therapy is one of the effective methods of allergy therapy at home and abroad. Probiotics can be used to regulate immune globulin (IgE) antibodies in vivo to relieve allergy immunotherapy.

7. Probiotics can reduce serum cholesterol: It may be related to the regulation and utilization of endogenous metabolites and the acceleration of short-chain fatty acid metabolism. Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus microbial ecological preparation, after taking cholesterol into the human body does not absorb the fecal sterol substances. This lowers cholesterol levels.

8. Probiotics can prevent cancer and inhibit tumor growth: Lactobacillus can increase the activity of macrophages and prevent tumor growth. Probiotics can inhibit the activities of some enzymes in the intestine, such as beta-glucoacetate, beta-glucuronidase, urea, enzymes, nitroreductase, azoreductase, and so on. These enzymes may be involved in carcinogenesis in the gut. Bile salts may cause the dissociation of harmful bacteria through the intestinal tract, causing carcinogenic substances and easily causing intestinal cancer. But probiotics can inhibit harmful bacteria, even if there is bile salt, the incidence of cancer is also greatly reduced.

Vitamin is a kind of micro-organic substance that people and animals must obtain from food in order to maintain normal physiological function. It plays an important role in the process of human growth, metabolism, and development.

Vitamin, is to maintain human life activities must be a kind of organic substances, but also to maintain human health is an important active substance. Vitamins are very few in the body, but they are indispensable.

vitamin

Vitamin A

Vitamin A gives you bright eyes and teeth.

The main role of vitamin A is to maintain the healthy growth of skin, bone, teeth, hair, but also to promote the development of vision and reproductive function. To take vitamin A, in addition to whole dairy products, animal liver, kidneys, eggs, fish liver oil, eat more colorful vegetables and dark green vegetables, such as celery, pumpkin, radish and other fruit thinning are rich in vitamin A, of which carrot is a leader, eating more not only to restore normal rough skin but also cure Night blindness and lower blood pressure.

Vitamin B1

People who eat out are most likely to lack vitamin B1 because the content of vitamin B1 in foods such as flour outside is almost zero.

Vitamin B1 has the ability to break down the calories in sugar into water and carbon dioxide again. Therefore, if vitamin B1 is not available at the time of decomposition, it will not be able to decompose to the final stage, leaving lactic acid and pyrimidine acid, and other substances in the body. Once the content of lactic acid in the body increases, it will make people tired, numb hands and feet, skin edema, and even affect the brain nerve. Once vitamin B1 is not enough, some people will become very anxious or have memory loss, especially easy to be restless and irritable and even quarrel with people. Therefore, vitamin B1 supplementation is better.

Efficacy: refresh your mind.

Unrefined cereals contain a lot of vitamin B1, so eating whole wheat bread, brown rice, germ rice, germ bread, and so on can get enough vitamin B1. Compared with other vitamins, if the lack of vitamin B1, appears particularly serious, will often suffer from colds, gastritis, shoulder stiffness, muscle fatigue. Therefore, people with these symptoms, as well as excessive smoking and drinking, suffering from diabetes, have increased absorption of vitamin B1 is necessary. The best strategy is to increase vitamin B1 intake, such as switching to white rice with vitamin B1 or eating with other vitamin-rich foods. Vitamin B1 is rich in Pork, which is also rich in bacon, the liver, as well as peanuts, sesame seeds, and seaweed tablets.

Vitamin B2

Do your lips, tongue, and eye mucosa often suffer from problems such as stomatitis, keratitis, congestion, trance, dry skin, and hair loss? If there are two or three of them, there is no doubt that you lack vitamin B2 recently, you must pay more attention, otherwise, the situation will deteriorate.

Vitamin B6

Oral contraceptives are a more common and convenient method of contraception. Unfortunately, the use of oral contraceptives will have a variety of side effects, including dizziness, weight gain, another side effect is that vitamin B6 deficiency. Long-term vitamin B6 deficiency can lead to anemia, lymphatic disorders, increased chance of vascular embolism, rough skin, and increased susceptibility to bacterial diseases. To reduce the above problems and ensure adequate skin nutrition, oral contraceptives must absorb enough vitamin B6, such as liver, eggs, yeast, rice bran, and other foods containing a lot of vitamin B6.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is effective in preventing and treating black spots and freckles. Under the skin epidermis, there are pigment mother cells, these cells stimulated will produce brilliant hormones, if too much can not be excreted, will deposit in the skin and form black spots, freckles. Adequate intake of vitamin C can inhibit the excess pigment secretion of the pigment mother cells, and only produce the necessary amount, and the excess pigment can be quickly excreted from the body to maintain normal metabolism. In addition, vitamin C can also make the pigment reduced to colorless.

Efficacy: vitamin C can prevent wrinkles.

Wrinkles are caused by insufficient collagen. When vitamin C is lacking, only about 10% collagen can be synthesized. If you take enough vitamin C, you can synthesize a lot of collagen from 26 to 35. So vitamin C is very effective in preventing wrinkles. It is important to take vitamin C through food. Some cream containing vitamin C is also effective. In addition, vitamin C helps the body absorb iron. Women who lose their blood due to menstruation are extremely susceptible to anemia. Iron must be supplemented to prevent anemia, and iron is somewhat contained in minerals with low absorption efficiency. Vitamin C has a strong reductive capacity, which can convert iron or copper which is difficult to absorb in plant food into a form easily absorbed by the body. Unrefined cereals, beans, shellfish, seaweed, Bok choy, etc. all contain iron, if combined with vitamin C, iron can be effectively absorbed by the human body.

Vitamin E

Fried snacks such as chips and fried rice nuts are strong enemies of vitamin E. Because these foods contain a lot of peroxide fat will deplete the body’s vitamin E, reduce its content. In order to make full use of vitamin E, it is better to eat less of the above foods. It is advisable to consider the consumption of wheat germ for obtaining vitamin E by way of ingestion. Generally available in the market, so when cooking soup or fried rice can consider adding some, eat it neither taste nor destroy the original flavor. Other whole grains or sesame and green vegetables are also important sources of vitamin E, which can be considered to be mixed with other foods.

Efficacy: when it comes to inhibiting cancer, vitamin E is the best.

At present, there are 35 kinds of food additives in the general commodity classification, including flavor enhancers, defoamers, bulking agents, colorants, preservatives, and other 10,000 kinds of food additives. Among them, there are mainly 9 common food additives:

Preservatives – including sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, sulfur dioxide, lactic acid, and so on. They are widely used in food processing such as jam, preserves, etc.

jam
Antioxidants – similar to preservatives, can extend the shelf life of foods. Including vitamin C, Sodium vitamin C, and so on.

Colorants – including synthetic colors include carmine, amaranth, lemon yellow, indigo, and so on. It can change the appearance of food and enhance its appetite.

Colorants
Thickener and stabilizer – can improve or stabilize the physical properties of cold food, so that the appearance of food lubrication is fine. They keep the ice cream and other frozen foods soft and lose tissue structure for a long time.

Puffing agent – part of the candy and chocolate added to the puffing agent, can promote the sugar body to produce carbon dioxide, thus playing a puffing effect. The commonly used leavening agents are sodium bicarbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, and compound leavening agents.

chocolate
Sweeteners – commonly used sweeteners are saccharin sodium, cyclamate, and so on. The goal is to increase sweetness.

Sour ingredients – some beverages and sweets often use acid to adjust and improve the flavor effect. They include citric acid, tartaric acid, malic acid, lactic acid, and so on.

The bleaching agent benzoyl peroxide – is the main ingredient of flour brighteners. The maximum dosage of food in flour is 0.06g/kg. Benzoyl peroxide has been banned as a food additive in developed countries such as the European Union.

Spices and fragrances – are synthetic, natural, and fragrant. Consumers often eat a variety of flavors of chocolate, and a variety of spices are widely used in the production process, so it has a variety of unique flavors.
