Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is one of the popular food/feed additives and ingredients in most countries.

Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, is slightly soluble in water, and stable in neutral or acidic solutions under heating. It is a composition of a cofactor of the yellow enzyme responsible for delivering hydrogen in the biological redox in our body.

Vitamin B2 Introduction

This product is a dry uniform flowable particle made by microbial fermentation which uses glucose syrup and yeast extract as raw materials and then gets refined through membrane filtration, crystallization, and spray-drying process.

Vitamin B2 Benefits & Applications

1. Energy consumption
Vitamin B2 is a coenzyme that produces various enzymes (such as flavin enzymes) involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Vitamin B2 helps convert nutrients in food into energy for the body to use.

2. Keep your skin and nervous system healthy
Vitamin B2 is essential for healthy skin, nerves, hair and nails. It helps repair and maintain the skin and mucous membranes and prevents problems such as angular cheilitis, glossitis, and oral ulcers.

3. Promotes growth and development
Vitamin B2 promotes normal cell growth and function and normal body development.

4. Support eye health
Vitamin B2 is beneficial for the eyes and helps prevent eye diseases such as eye fatigue and cataracts. It is also involved in retinal protection and protects the eyes from oxidative stress damage.

5. Anti-inflammatory effect
As an antioxidant, vitamin B2 can help protect cells from free radical damage, reducing the risk of chronic disease. Vitamin E also participates in energy regeneration and enhances antioxidant capacity.

6. Promotes red blood cell production
Vitamin B2 aids in the production and maintenance of red blood cells, ensuring that there are sufficient red blood cells in the blood, thereby improving oxygen transport and preventing atherosclerosis in the mouth of the

7. Supports muscle function
Vitamin B2 is involved in normal nerve function, supporting nerve cell health and normal endocrine function.

8. Balances hormones
Vitamin B2 is involved in the synthesis and activation of certain hormones, helping to balance hormones in the body.

Can vitamin B2 be taken for a long time?

Vitamin B2 is a water-soluble vitamin that is easy to digest, absorb, and metabolize. A reasonable daily dose will not cause major side effects. However, it should be noted that if vitamin B2 is taken excessively for a long time, it may increase the risk of kidney damage.
In terms of intake dosage, the recommended daily intake for adult males is 1.3 mg, and for women, it is 1.1 mg.
Although vitamin B2 has no major side effects, if symptoms such as skin itching, tingling, and burning occur during medication, the medication needs to be discontinued.

Vitamin B2 Properties

This product is to be added to animal feed in order to maintain the body’s health, accelerate growth and development, and keep the integrity of skin and mucous membranes.
The product is a yellow to brown evenly high fluidity particle with melting point 275-282, slightly smelly and bitter, soluble in dilute alkali solution, and insoluble in water and ethanol.
DryRiboflavin remains quite stable against oxidants, acid, and heat but not alkali and light, which would pose a fast decomposition of it, particularly in alkaline solution or ultraviolet. Therefore, it is highly advised that this product must be sealed from light and stay away from alkaline substances in the premix to tackle unnecessary loss. Additionally, when there is free water around—the more free water, the more loss.
However, Riboflavin has good stability if it appears as a drying powder in darkness. However, the feed pelleting and bulking process had a damaging impact on the Riboflavin– about 5% to 15% loss rate by the pelleting process and about 0 to 25% by the bulking process.
