Cherries belong to the Rosaceae family, which is rich in nutrients and has a high health care value. Compounds in black cherries inhibit the activity of the cycloxegenase I and II enzymes involved in the inflammatory response, thereby relieving pain and discomfort. Black cherries also contain compounds that inhibit other enzymes, namely xanthine oxidase, which produces uric acid.
