Vitamin C is a colorless crystal, odorless, acidic taste. Soluble in water and ethanol. Stable in dry air, and its solution is not stable. For vitamin C, the recommended daily intake is 75 milligrams (mg) for women and 90 milligrams (mg) for men. During pregnancy, the recommended daily intake is 120 milligrams (mg). The maximum daily intake for all adults is 2,000 milligrams (mg).

Excessive doses of vitamin C supplements may cause:

Heartburn
Stomach (abdominal) cramps
Headache
